Tonya believes wholeheartedly in the transformative power of public schools. Both of her parents were public school teachers, shaping her perspective and fueling her commitment from a very early age. As a proud product of the Atlanta Public School system, she experienced firsthand the impact of passionate teachers and inclusive learning environments.
Tonya also has a strong interest in supporting marginalized communities. She finds joy in empowering individuals and facilitating success for others. She creates a supportive environment by managing logistics, streamlining processes, and ensuring resources are available. Her work empowers her colleagues, allowing them to focus on their core tasks and achieve their goals.
Her past work experiences include The Procter & Gamble Company (Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager), Wake County Public School System (Receptionist & Media Assistant) and Durham’s Partnership for Children (Executive Assistant.) Tonya has also had the pleasure of serving on the PTA board at her children’s school as Treasurer & Hospitality Chair and as a Room Parent for 6 years.
Tonya received a B.S. in Business Administration from Florida A&M University and currently lives in Cary, NC, with her family. She thrives on continuous learning, exploring new ideas, and staying informed. When she’s not championing quality education for all, you’ll find her in the kitchen trying new recipes. Or, she might be found curled up with a good book and cup of coffee. Green spaces are her sanctuary and the beach is where she likes to go for peace and inspiration.
