Academic Success Alliance

 

The Academic Success Alliance (ASA) is a coalition of Durham-based non-profits and community organizations who provide college access programming to DPS students and families. DPS Foundation is the lead convener of the Alliance.

 

THE ALLIANCE’s 4 MAIN GOALS:

  • Create a shared vision of postsecondary education access for
    Durham Public Schools students.

  • Build shared knowledge, including sharing data and community
    education training.

  • Foster collaboration and strategically align support and resources
    to strengthen postsecondary access for DPS students.

  • Identify gaps in the continuum of support and collectively
    strategize to fill gaps

2024-2025 FOCUS:

  • Develop website of information, resources, and organizations that
    provide the necessary knowledge of the college going process to
    students and families.

    • Previously, we focused on getting information to students and
      determined we can better serve students and families by
      focusing on parents/caregivers.

  • School-based FAFSA completion events

    • Funding is available for counselors or College Advisors to host
      these events, through the Alliance. We can recruit and train
      volunteers on the new FAFSA.
