Bull City Community Schools Partnership
The Community Schools model seeks to transform schools through community-driven problem solving and wraparound services for students.
Moving forward, Student U will oversee and manage Durham’s Community Schools. This transition marks an exciting new chapter in strengthening and expanding the Community Schools model, ensuring its long-term impact. This collaboration between Student U and DPS Foundation will only help further enhance student success throughout Durham and North Carolina.
DPS Foundation currently supports pilots at Fayetteville St. Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, and Club Blvd. Elementary Schools. Student U will begin supporting these programs in Summer 2025.
You can read more about this transition and what it means in this blog article.
“What we’re trying to do is bring up a healthy and collaborative community, and the community schools model really gives us a picture of what that could look like.”
“The parents that I have constant contact with now are so appreciative… they’re able to use their voice to make the change.”
“The whole basis of community school is about organic, grass-roots leadership.”
