Chris Soto
WHOLE SCHOOLS DIRECTOR OF SCHOOL-BASED WELL-BEING
chris.soto@bullcityschools.org
Chris Soto strongly believes that categorical thinking is both the worst and the best thing about humans. He also believes that things are never as bad or as good as they seem.
Armed with those guiding principles (and possessing the amazing superpowers that come with Attention Deficit thinking), Chris is mildly informed enough to have superficial conversations about a wide range of interests and activities, including fly fishing, chess, sports, exercise, guitar, politics, sci-fi and fantasy, and competitive rock-paper-scissors.
Chris' passion for mental and emotional well-being, however, is consistent across his career.
He is a passionate advocate for structured opportunities (for both children and adults) to develop emotional agility. He has an Ed.M. from Harvard University in Human Development and Psychology, an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, and was recently licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. He comes to DPSF believing that his best two traits are curiosity and empathy.
Chris lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina with his wife and two children. He considers parenting to be the centerpiece of his life and learns cool new stuff from his kids every day.
